Configuration Management as a
Basis for Internet Cooperation
P. Fröhlich and W. Nejdl
Abstract
Several document management systems supporting asynchronous
cooperation over the world--wide web have been proposed. Such systems
provide access controlled areas for sharing objects related to a
specific topic among a group of people working together. Support for
configuration management is not present or very much restricted in
these systems. We present an object--oriented CM data model which
supports cooperative work and integrates features needed for internet
cooperation (cooperation spaces, access control) with configuration
management. This data model, implemented using the deductive
object--oriented database ConceptBase, is the basis of the WebRC
system, the first web--based cooperation tool with full configuration
management support.
